Lullabot: Understanding Drupal DVD On Sale Now

We haven't seen this yet - but I've bought a copy and it is downloading -- since it's from the Lullabots, I'm pretty sure it's going to be good. More after I get a chance to look at it.

Okay - Got a chance to look at it - it's really pretty neat.  Not deep in detail, but exactly the sort of thing you'd want to show to someone to introduce them to Drupal in a gentle and entertaining way.

So - where did all that content come from?

Ack - those of you who don't have accounts on the site will have noticed that a whole lot of content showed up today.  That's what happens when you don't look at the site as an anonymous user for weeks.   Seems there was a little problem caused by some access control modules we'd installed but hadn't removed correctly.  Anyway, all the stuff that was posted for the last few weeks suddenly will have shown up today for anonymous users.

Sorry for the problem.  We don't think it'll happen again ---

Publishing Options

Lots of people find the publishing options in Drupal confusing. The bottom of every form to submit content has a block called "Publishing Options". This area lets you set the publishing options for this piece of content. The area looks like this:

Drupal for Nonprofits

I'm going to be involved in a Drupal session on Thursday for the Minnesota Council for Nonprofits. The session will involve the use of Drupal and CiviCRM for nonprofit organizations. Basically that's what we (and a lot of other Drupal shops) do. I'm looking forward to this, as it is often a big shock to Nonprofits that there is a solution for a web presence that they can actually "own" and modify, and that makes web sites easy to manage for non-technical users (and hey, that's the point of this web site, right?)

How Many People Use Drupal?

To give you some idea - this is the group picture from the Drupalcon 2008 conference - so the answer is, LOTS of people use Drupal, and an amazing number of them (900) were willing to go to Boston to participate. It was sold out, and a lot more people would have come if they could have gotten in.  I'm over there on the left somewhere.

2bits: How OpenConcept Consulting uses Userpoints

2bits: How OpenConcept Consulting uses Userpoints - At DrupalCon Boston 2008, Khalid Baheyeldin of 2bits.com met Mike Gifford, of OpenConcept Consulting, an Ottawa based shop.
During the discussions, it was apparent that OpenConcept used Userpoints in interesting way.
The following interview was done after DrupalCon, and highlights how Userpoints is used in many creative ways:

Live from DrupalCon

At the moment I'm on the floor at Drupalcon, listening to a talk on The Future of Fields, which is a discussion of the recent data sprint, looking at the future of how fields and data should be handled in future Drupal releases. This is interesting stuff.

So far it has been a great conference, with a lot of interesting people sharing their Drupal-iciousness.
